Such a lovely list! Oftentimes, it’s the simple things in life that have the potential to make our days even just a smidge better - if only we give ourselves a chance to notice the beauty and value in the mundane

It’s always important to know what grounds you. Something that can pull you back to your center. 💕

Great article Ryan! We seem to be into similar things. Out of curiosity have you ever thought about hiking the el Camino in Spain? Or any major hikes in Europe?

Here’s a little overview of it. It’s on my radar to do one day. Seems like it’s something you’d be interested in https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camino_de_Santiago

Ryan, you've tapped something important here: consciously doing something which makes you even just a little bit happier. And appreciating it. Read, self-awareness.

I've shared multiple times in my video podcast (Radical Being with River Faire) that humans do two curious things in chasing happiness: 1) it's usually conditional (I'll be happy when such and such occurs), and related to that, 2) it's almost always in the future—never right now, which is the only moment which exists and the only place we can be.

As I've also put it in the podcast (and with clients in the past), if you're only happy in the BIG moments, you're going to spend a lot of time unhappy. Frankly, life is too short and precious for that. Finding the little things and consciously savoring them is quietly transforming.

Thanks for your post!

Wow, you hit the nail on the head. Thanks for leaving such a great comment and for reading my work.

It really is a daily struggle. In my writing, I do the best I can to strike a balance between giving my thoughts without sounding like I “have it figured out” because in reality, I don’t. But, I am doing my best to learn about myself everyday.

Trying my best to live in the moment and appreciate all that I have. Gets tough nowadays with all the distractions at our fingers. Anyways, appreciate you reading. 😁

Awesome post! We are similar in age too, I’m 27. I could relate to a lot, the early morning workouts, walks, and time in nature have been big for me too. Training for a marathon in November! Also lol at the energy drink part because I’ve been on that kick the last few weeks and my digestion system feels it. Keep up the posts, I agree about writing/journaling! Inspired me to journal just now

I didn’t expect personal finance to be on there, but I actually can relate to that one too! I look forward to updating my budget spreadsheet every week. I definitely agree that it’s not about the money, it’s about the freedom and capability that comes from knowing your finances. I’ve never thought about it as something that makes my day better, but it definitely does.

Time in nature is 100% my number one. Almost every day I make sure I get some silent time in some beautiful area. It immediately calms my brain, and then I get extremely inspired!

Glad to have another personal finance buff here, haha. I really hope that our generation is able to make money less awkward to talk about. Such a hard line to walk though in your early 20s since everyone is going in every direction. The irony to investing is that the early you start, it is exponentially easier to achieve your goals; however, most people don't care or grasp the concepts until it's mathematically too late. I digress though, haha.

Thanks for reading and it was great to hear what makes you 1% happier as well. I usually schedule my articles to publish weeks after I write them, so this one came at a good time because I woke up feeling pretty unmotivated about a lot of things in life, but it is a good reminder to myself to keep putting one-foot in front of the other. Let's make it a great day, today!
